Underwriting Manager Denver

Well established direct FNMA, FHLMC and GNMA seller/servicer has an immediate opening for an experienced Underwriting Manager. This position will develop and manage a team focused on superior customer services, and deliver on the company values of integrity, quality, reliability, consistency and respect.

The Underwriting Manager will be responsible to help develop and implement department, as well as individual goals and key performance indicators; provide on-going training and coaching; possess expertise in agency and investor guidelines and requirements, and be able to apply them in a high-volume environment; build and maintain a strong working relationship with third-party contractors the company may engage.

Underwriting Manager Job Responsibilities include:

  • Create a positive, effective work environment within the team conducive to open communications and collaborative problem-solving
  • Attract, retain and develop top talent for the mortgage underwriting department
  • Train, motivate and guide team members in all functions of underwriting, including traditional and automated underwriting
  • Maintain key production indicators for turn times, team member productivity and quality
  • Monitor case-loads for accuracy, quality control and adherence to guidelines
  • Keep current with industry and investor guideline changes by reading updated bulletins and communicate with corporate guidelines committee as needed
  • Actively participate in all corporate audit functions, including internal, agency, investor and/or governmental audits.

Underwriter Manager Skills/Knowledge/Behaviors:

  • 5 years of current, demonstrated experience as an underwriting manager in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • 3-5 years Wholesale/TPO business preferred, but combination of retail and wholesale acceptable
  • DE and/or LAPP certification required
  • Proven management skills, leading and mentoring employees to successful performance
  • Experience working with team members working virtually (home based)
  • Ability to research, read and correctly apply agency and company guidelines
  • Experience working with third-party contractors preferred
  • Ability to research, read and correctly apply agency and company guidelines
  • A team player and have the ability to work independently
  • This is a full-time; Monday through Friday position assigned to our Colorado Springs, CO, Corporate Office. Benefits eligible on the first of the month following start date; including: medical, dental, vision, life (company paid), matching 401(K), PTO and more.
