Secondary Marketing Specialist

The Secondary Marketing Specialist is responsible for completing lock and pricing review request queues submitted by operations staff and external loan officers. This person is expected to carefully review and evaluate each request. The task will include completing the updates in the loan record, re-price loan using historical pricing tool, update the lock record, and checking the caution screen to ensure loan changes are within guidelines The Secondary Marketing Specialist will maintain an understanding of each client’s specific lock policies and have basic product knowledge.
Role and Responsibilities

  • Relies on instruction and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
  • Administers all secondary market duties that aid in selling and purchasing loans
  • Complies with secondary market laws
  • Complete the updates in loan records
  • Re-price loan using historical pricing tool and update lock record
  • Check the caution screen to ensure loan changes are within guidelines
  • Completes rate lock renegotiations, lock extensions, and final price check
  • Submits lock and lock modification request to client and secures lock confirmation
  • Locks loan with investor and secures lock confirmation
  • Generates the retail lock confirmation
  • Modifies lock and re-prices loan after initial lock
  • Resubmits file to underwriting after lock modification
  • Validates pricing and resubmits file to underwriting upon acceptance of Counter Offer;
  • Provides assistance to Coordinators, LLN Correspondent clients and external Loan
  • Officers concerning rate lock related questions;
  • Monitors Lock Desk shared email in-box;
  • Answers Lock Desk Call Center inquires
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee will view, have access to, and work with confidential financial data. The employee in this position must adhere to strict confidentiality policies and procedures.

Skills/ Knowledge/ Behaviors

  • Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the Mortgage industry
  • Basic knowledge of credit applications, Credit reports, and mortgage application documents including compliance
  • Maintain an understanding of each client’s specific lock policies
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field a plus or 1-3 years of related experience
  • Customer service oriented
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a pleasant, reliable, and responsible approach
  • Strong Interpersonal skills as well as verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Strong phone etiquette & communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced environment
